Rebrand FOSK (Friends of Sky Meadows)
This project was part of a competition my class participated in, organized by Friends of Sky Meadows (FOSK). FOSK is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Sky Meadows National Park community. The competition began with each of us designing a logo for the organization. Out of all the submissions, my design was one of the two selected by FOSK. My professor then chose two other logos, and the four of us became the leads of our teams. As team leaders, we were responsible for creating a brand identity, designing stationery, and managing the overall project. The rest of the team worked under our guidance, taking my design and adapting it into various collateral, while I ensured that all designs adhered to the brand specifications.
My design was inspired by Sky Meadows’ status as a certified Dark Sky Park. I incorporated elements that reflected this theme, including leaves that resembled the local plant life, which I observed during a visit to the park. FOSK also requested that I include a monarch butterfly, so I integrated the shape of a butterfly wing and used it as an icon within the design.
After presenting our work, FOSK expressed that my design was their favorite, and I won the competition. They then asked me to refine my initial logo by simplifying it further. Initially, I kept it a two-color design since they are a non-profit, but FOSK requested the use of more colors. However, they later decided to revert to a one-color design for simplicity.
